Abstract
In general, global influenza pandemics occur every 10 to 40 years with no clear incidence pattern. If an influenza pandemic occurs abroad, the likelihood of disease importation to the Republic of Korea (ROK) also increases. The ROK experienced an influenza A (H1N1) pandemic in 2009, as well as the Middle East respiratory syndrome crisis in 2015. As a result, these outbreaks raised the public¡¯s awareness of emerging infectious diseases. Recently, the ROK government revised the ¡°Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and Response Plan.¡± This study introduces the details of this plan.
